Luoghi dimenticati o da dimenticare ? - Forgotten places or to forget ?

Secondo Autore della serie scoperti nella rete internet, Fabio pratica da poco l’esplorazione urbana, ma riesce con maestria a lavorare in postproduzione le sue immagini ricreando l’atmosfera che ha vissuto e visualizzato durante la fase di ripresa, le sue immagini trasmettono le sensazioni che sono state vissute e patite in questi luoghi di isolamento sociale.

Ci sono luoghi che, seppur lontani e nascosti, sprigionano una forza creativa ed una potenza artistica assolutamente non paragonabile ad altri.

Ci sono luoghi che è difficile dimenticare una volta conosciuti, una volta toccati, una volta sperimentati.

Ci sono luoghi il cui ricordo non solo è vivido nella mente e nell'anima di migliaia di bambini che ci hanno vissuto, ma resiste al passaggio del tempo e dei tempi e si struttura nella polvere, nelle crepe e nei propri calcinacci per non essere più perduto.

Ci sono luoghi che andrebbero preservati dal passaggio dell'uomo e che è meglio far finta che non esistano più.

Ci sono luoghi che il fotografo può solo cercare di contornare, di descrivere per sommi capi ma di cui difficilmente riuscirà a dire più di quanto non riescano a fare le proprie fotografie.

Le foto che seguono sono state scattate proprio in uno di questi luoghi, così lontano da casa mia, ma così vicino al mio animo.

Фабио, второй автор из ряда обнаруженных в сети интернет, занимается урбанистическими исследованиями не так давно, но ему мастерски удается обработать свои изображения в постдоработке, воссоздавая атмосферу, которую он прочувствовал и увидел во время съемки, его снимки передают чувства, пережитые и испытанные в этих местах социальной изоляции.

Есть места, которые несмотря на свою удаленность и затерянность, раскрывают творческую силу и артистическую мощь, совершенно несравнимую с другими.

Есть места, которые сложно забыть однажды познакомившись с ними, однажды прикоснувшись к ним, однажды познав их на опыте.

Есть места, воспоминание о которых не только живет в памяти и душе тысяч детей, которые там жили, но и выдерживает течение времени и эпох и застывает в пыли, в трещинах, в собственных руинах для того, чтобы больше не затеряться.

Есть места, куда  необходимо было бы закрыть доступ человека и делать вид, что они больше не существуют.

Есть места, которые фотограф может только попытаться обрисовать, описать лишь поверхностно, но о которых ему сложно будет сказать больше, чем это смогут сделать его собственные фотографии.

Размещенные ниже снимки были сделаны в одном из таких мест, так далеко от моего дома, но так близко к моей душе.

Despite being a recent practitioner of urban exploration, Fabio can masterfully rework his photos during postproduction, recreating the atmosphere experienced during the taking. His images convey the feelings that were experienced, and suffered, in places of social isolation.

There are places which, although far away and hidden, release unique creative force and artistic power.

There are places that are hard to forget once known, once touched, once experienced.

There are places whose memory is not only vivid in the minds and souls of thousands of children who have lived there, but resists the passage of time and ages and permeates the dust, cracks and debris, never to be lost again.

There are places that should be preserved from the passage of man, pretending they do not exist anymore.

There are places the photographer can only try to outline, but he will scarcely be able to say more than what his own photographs can convey.

The following photos were taken in one of such places, so far from my house, but so close to my soul.

Villa Franzan al Barcon 1660/1670 Veneto - Italy

Villa Franzan al Barcon. Costruita nel decennio 1660-1670 dai conti Franzan divenne, dopo la decadenza della nobile famiglia e diversi passaggi di proprietà, villeggiatura estiva del Collegio delle Dame Inglesi di Vicenza, per un periodo che va dal 1877 al 1907. Passata in proprietà del Vescovo di Padova fu sede di Collegio e Seminario Vescovile fino al 1969. Attualmente l'intero complesso, non più di proprietà della Diocesi di Padova ma di privati, e in fase di restauro.

Situata nella contrada del Barcon nel territorio posto a nord-ovest del comune di Sarcedo VI  -  45°42'39.88"N 11°30'16.62"E

 è molto più di un complesso residenziale di villa veneta, testimonianza di quell’antica e ormai tramontata civiltà della villa veneta che ha lasciato anche a Sarcedo le sue evidenti tracce. La sua storia non può essere slegata da quella della località in cui fu edificata, tanto che, fin da subito, il nome con cui si indicavano i suoi edifici fu proprio Il Barcon; con questo nome la gente del posto chiama ancora oggi il maestoso complesso architettonico, che nel Novecento ebbe l’importante funzione di ospitare il Seminario di Padova, anche se esso si trova in uno stato di abbandono e rovina da ormai quattro decenni.

Esistono molti progetti di recupero, ristorante, albergo, centro benessere,  campo da golf, centro ippico, ecc.

British Military Cemetery

Cenni storici: 

E' noto che nel 1915, gli italiani dichiararono guerra all'Austria e combatterono al fianco degli Alleati, .  Nel marzo 1918, il XIV corpo d'armata britannico (la VII,XXIII, e LII Divisione) sostituì le truppe italiane al fronte tra Asiago e Canove. Delle tre divisioni, due furono impegnate attivamente mentre la terza rimase in riserva. Il fronte rimase relativamente tranquillo fino al massiccio attacco austriaco tra il Grappa e Canove nella battaglia di Asiago del 15-16 giugno 1918. Il 15 giugno, gli austriaci riuscirono a penetrare nelle linee Alleate per circa un chilimetro, ma il giorno successivo un contrattacco alleato riportò il fronte sulla linea precedente all'inizio della battaglia. In ottobre, la VII e la XXIII Divisione furono inviate sulla linea del fiume Piave. La LII Divisione, integrata nella Sesta Armata Italiana, ebbe un importante ruolo nella Battaglia di Vittorio Veneto (24 ottobre-4 novembre 1918) nella quale gli Austriaci furono definitivamente sconfitti.

 

Gli inglesi caduti nella zona furono in totale 1024, sepolti nei 5 piccoli cimiteri: di Barenthal, Granezza, Cavalletto, Magnaboschi, Boscon, (sulla planimetria contrassegnati in rosso) tutelati dalla Commonwealth War Graves Commission che li cura e ne garantisce la conservazione.

Pochi sanno che nel cimitero di Granezza è sepolto Edward Harold Brittain appartenente al Reggimento Sherwood Foresters.morto il 15 Giugno 1918, fratello della scrittrice inglese Vera Brittain (1893-1977) che tanto si prodigò sui campi di battaglia in qualità di aiutante volontaria V.A.D. (Voluntary Aid Detachment) della Croce Rossa.

Location Information

One of 5 cemeteries situated on the Asiago plateau in the province of Vicenza, in the Veneto region. This cemetery lies 5 kilometres south of the town of Asiago on a minor, narrow road that loops round from the village of Cesuna to Asiago.

From Asiago take the SP72 in the direction of Bassano, following the signs to the hospital. 0.7 kilometres after the hospital take a right turn, signposted to Barenthal, Granezza and Cavalletto cemeteries. After 300 metres, take the first left turn then a right turn after 100 metres. The cemetery will be found on the left hand side, after a distance of 1.8 kilometres.

Visiting Information

July 2008: NOTE - Over time, detioration of stone occurs and as part of its maintenance programme the Commonwealth War Graves Commission will be replacing the headstones in Barenthal Military Cemetery.

The cemetery is permanently open, though from November to May it is rarely accessible due to deep snow falls.

Historical Information

The Italians entered the war on the Allied side, declaring war on Austria, in May 1915. Commonwealth forces were at the Italian front between November 1917 and November 1918.

In March 1918, XIV Corps (the 7th, 23rd and 48th Divisions) relieved Italian troops on the front line between Asiago and Canove, the front being held by two divisions with one division in reserve on the plain. The French held the line to the left, with the Italians to the right.

The front was comparatively quiet until the Austrians attacked in force from Grappa to Canove in the Battle of Asiago (15-16 June 1918). The Allied line was penetrated to a depth of about 1,000 metres on 15 June but the lost ground was retaken the next day and the line re-established. Between June and September, frequent successful raids were made on the Austrian trenches.

In October, the 7th and 23rd Divisions were sent to the Treviso area of the River Piave front. The 48th Division, which remained in the mountains as part of the Italian Sixth Army, played an important part in the Battle of Vittorio Veneto (24 October-4 November 1918) in which the Austrians were finally defeated.

Barenthal Military Cemetery is one of five Commonwealth cemeteries on the Asiago Plateau containing burials relating to this period. It contains 125 First World War burials, nine of them unidentified.
